Linear
Static Stress Analyses of Race Car
Components
Automotive engineers at Triple Eight
Race Engineering used linear static
stress analysis to optimize a variety
of load-bearing components on their
Vauxhall Astra Coupe race cars. Their
efforts were rewarded with the driver,
team and manufacturer's titles in the
British Touring Car Championship for
the second year in succession in 2002. |

“The support provided by ALGOR is
second to none and the response is
always rapid and informative. ALGOR's
use of Webcasting as a method of
communication displays ALGOR's drive to
grasp new technology and adapt it for
the use of their customers. It is this
attitude that we are continuing to make
the most of in our partnership with
ALGOR.” John

“MES will enable me to actually simulate battlebot destruction scenarios before my design has to compete in the arena. MES results will be used to optimize the battlebot
to be lighter, stronger and less costly to
build.” Michael H. Lewis
Team JAMS

The members of Team JAMS,
Shernisia, Jasmine and Michael Lewis, are

Ali," which competed in Comedy Central’s popular “Battlebots”
competition in May 2002. ALGOR has granted Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) software to Team JAMS to use in designing a
new robot to compete in an upcoming
competition.

As a sponsor of competitions, ALGOR provides
finite element analysis (FEA) and Mechanical Event Simulation (MES)
software grants to participating organizations. MES combines large-scale
motion and stress analysis and includes linear and nonlinear material
models. Through these grants, participants can design their entries with
the same software used by over 20,000 customers worldwide.
We are always pleased to consider supporting participants in these
and other competitions. If you are interested in receiving a software
grant, please contact us for more information.
