“ALGOR software has been easy for my students to learn. The software is well-documented and Internet-based instructional Webcasts aid with the students’ learning curve.”

Walied Moussa, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

University of Alberta

Maximum stresses obtained from an MES are displayed for a MEMS piezoelectric micropump, used for biomedical applications such as delivering minute, accurate fluid dosages to diabetics or chemotherapy patients.

Universities partner with ALGOR to provide their students with the tools necessary to properly prepare for professional careers in engineering. Our University Program provides professors with Finite Element Analysis in Practice, a course curriculum kit with materials to assist in incorporating FEA into the classroom. Affordable pricing also provides campuswide installation of the software for concurrent use and Software Updates and Support (SUS) coverage for technical support and frequent software updates.

Professors teaching ALGOR software give students access to modern and leading analysis and simulation tools, enabling them to experience the entire engineering design process from conception to market.

Benefits and Support

Software Features

  • FEMPRO, a complete and easy-to-use finite element modeling, results evaluation and presentation interface that features docking toolbars, multiple view windows, a tree view of model parts and associated data, Windows-native data input screens with real-time data checking for reasonable input and right-click functionality for applying, modifying and deleting loads, constraints and FEA properties
  • InCAD technology for direct CAD/CAE data exchange with Alibre Design, Autodesk Inventor, Inovate, IronCAD, KeyCreator, Mechanical Desktop, Pro/ENGINEER, Solid Edge and SolidWorks; CAD support for Rhinoceros; full associativity for each design change for Alibre Design, Autodesk Inventor, Inovate, IronCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, Solid Edge and SolidWorks; CAD support for Rhinoceros; support for CAD universal files including 3-D solid models in the ACIS, IGES, STEP and STL file formats, and 2- and 3-D wireframe geometry
  • built-in precision FEA model-building capabilities with structured meshing tools for building designs from scratch and refining CAD designs
  • a wide range of simulation capabilities includes static stress and Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, fatigue, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics, full multiphysics and piping
  • internationalized language support allowing easy selection of the language of choice, including Chinese (simplified), English, French, German, Italian and Spanish

Curriculum

The University Program includes a course curriculum kit designed to assist in incorporating FEA into the classroom.

Beyond providing FEA theory, these materials guide students through the process of building truss, beam, 2-D, plate and brick element models, setting up and performing linear static stress analyses including contact and evaluating results. They also include supplementary information about different element types, linear and nonlinear material models, mesh convergence, thermal analyses and presentation options.

All materials are maintained by ALGOR so that they reflect our continual software enhancements and are consistent in style with the tutorials, accuracy verification examples and documentation included with the software. This provides an integrated, well-defined learning experience that is beneficial to both students and professors.

Distance Learning

ALGOR’s distance learning brings educational support and customer service to students’ desktops through free software demonstration Webcasts and in-depth software training Web Courses available on the Internet at www.eTechLearning.com. Our engineers conduct free Tuesday at 10 Webcasts that students can view live or later as a replay. High-quality audio/video Web Courses provide software training by expert instructors on topics of your choice. Each university license comes with a free subscription for unlimited access to over 40 Web Courses and more than 80 hours of content already available with new and updated content added every month.

University Program Participants Say

“I use ALGOR to design and test experimental equipment that helps us further our understanding of physics. In addition, Oxford University physics students use the software to understand how materials and structures behave during the course of an experiment. ALGOR's model-building, analysis set-up and post-processing tools are the best I have used in an FEA package. The technical support team is most helpful, flexible and diligent.”

Wing Lau, Ph.D.

Professor

Oxford University

“ALGOR is a modern, cutting-edge analysis tool. ALGOR’s ease of use is an advantage because students get up and running quickly and can focus on FEA principles rather than the mechanics of using the software. Since most of our students are already employed in an engineering organization as draftsmen or technicians and looking to advance their careers, many can immediately apply these new skills in their workplace.”

Robert Draper
     Professor
     Point Park University
