Mechanical Event Simulation of a 400 kV Transmission Tower

A 400 kV Y-tower for electrical power transmission was analyzed by West Coast Engineering as part of research into new engineering methods. Mechanical Event Simulation was used to determine the dynamic effects of a wire breaking during a high wind load. Both the complete tower assembly with electrical lines and a detailed model of the tower base were studied.
