PITTSBURGH, PA – June 29, 2004 – ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider
of design, analysis and simulation software, announced that ALGOR V15, scheduled
for release on July 6, features
all-new Superdraw sketching and modeling tools for 2-D design and analysis directly within FEMPRO,
ALGOR's complete and easy-to-use finite element modeling, results evaluation and presentation interface.
V15 also includes an expanded, built-in library of materials; new Mechanical Event
Simulation (MES) capabilities including a new pulley element; improved linear static stress, heat transfer and fluid flow analysis
tools;
more result evaluation and presentation capabilities; and much more.
"ALGOR V15 enables engineers to sketch and mesh 2-D FEA models directly
within our FEMPRO single-user interface and ALGOR V16, available later this Fall,
will provide our complete suite of Superdraw modeling tools within FEMPRO,
including options for creating 2- and 3-D structured meshes," said ALGOR Product Manager, Bob
Williams.
"V15 significantly increases the finite element modeling tools available within FEMPRO, which makes it easy to perform
first-pass or proof-of-concept analyses."
The new Superdraw 2-D sketching tools enable engineers to draw points, lines,
rectangles, arcs, circles and splines and then modify these objects with
commands including copy, divide, fillet, intersect, rotate, mirror, move,
parallel, trim/extend and delete. An automatic, unstructured 2-D mesh can then
be easily created from sketches through a right-click menu option – resulting
in a 2-D FEA model ready for analysis.
ALGOR V15 also includes:
- Material Library Manager improvements such as:
- additional materials in the built-in library
- the capability to exchange material data with third-party
material libraries through XML
- a parallel iterative solver that provides faster solution times for linear static stress analysis
- variable surface loads and a new pulley element for MES
- body-to-body radiation for transient heat transfer analysis
- improved convergence and faster solution times for fluid flow analysis
- new result evaluation and presentation capabilities such as:
- realistic visualization of beam and plate elements
- factor of safety and strain energy density contours for linear
static stress analysis
