PITTSBURGH, PA -- May 30, 2001 -- ALGOR, Inc., a leading maker
of software for mechanical engineers, today announced upgrades to its InCAD
technology for finite element analysis (FEA) that enable full analysis of
complex models created in the Solid Edge CAD system from UGS. ALGOR’s
InCAD products continue to provide seamless integration with Solid Edge to
directly capture CAD models without any file translation. The expanded
capabilities complement improvements in Solid Edge, including its
Weldment Environment, to help engineers quickly get accurate FEA results for a
wider range of parts and assemblies.
"ALGOR’s upgrades show its continued commitment to maintain an active
partner relationship with Solid Edge and to provide Solid Edge users with the
highest levels of utility for both their CAD and FEA investments," said
Bill McClure, director of the Solid Edge line of business at UGS. "The
integration now possible with ALGOR’s InCAD products enables Solid Edge users
to directly capture their models created in our Weldment Environment with ALGOR."
Solid Edge enables users to create weldments within the Weldment
Environment and then place and manipulate them as components of a larger
assembly model. Because of seamless integration, ALGOR’s latest InCAD products
all work with exact Solid Edge model data, including the new weldment
information and data defining even the most complex conical and helical
geometrical surfaces. This tight integration enables engineers to run any ALGOR
analysis on their Solid Edge models – from static structural to Mechanical
Event Simulation to full Multiphysics – which increases their modeling
flexibility in Solid Edge and minimizes their products’ time to market.
ALGOR has been a leader in mechanical simulation software since introducing
FEA for PCs in 1984 and interfacing with CAD systems in 1985. The company’s
software products have enabled over 20,000 engineers in over 60 countries to
create safe, efficient, cost-effective designs. ALGOR also offers educational
support and customer service that includes the use of Internet audio/video
technology for distance learning Web Courses, which provide step-by-step
software instruction, and free Webcasts for live software demonstrations.
ALGORs family of products features Mechanical Event Simulation software
for FEA-based motion and stress analysis, InCAD technology for seamless CAD/CAE
integration with virtually all popular CAD systems and full multiphysics
capabilities. The company also offers structural, linear dynamic, thermal, fluid
flow, electrostatic and piping analysis tools. ALGORs software interchanges
data with products from ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANSS), Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK),
CADKEY Corporation, MSC.Software Corporation (NYSE:MNS), Parametric Technology
Corporation (PTC), Structural Dynamics Research Corporation, UGS (NYSE:UGS),
SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq:DASTY) company, and
others.
